Ted's Montana Grill - Urban Times

I had a chance to swing by Ted's Montana Grill last week for Urban Times and it was a ton of fun. I got some interior shots, complete with large buffalo head and then got to really have some fun with the food. Mixing a little natural light and strobe and getting some really cool, quick results. A big part of the story was the enormous sustainability effort undergone by Ted's in picking out their materials.

Oh yeah, and the food is fantastic.

Shine Spa - Urban Times

Urban Times led me to another new location that I hadn't seen before, this time it was Shine Spa. A wonderful spa located right in the heart of Westport. It's got a great mix of services from traditional spa treatments through to yoga.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church - Urban Times

We had a chance to check out one of Kansas City's oldest surviving buildings today. With its 120th anniversary coming around the corner St. Mary's is a beautifully restored symbol of the architectural magnificence that Kansas City was founded on. For this shoot I got a chance to play around with the HDR inside of PS CS2 - those acronyms stand for "High Dynamic Range" in "Photoshop Creative Suite Two". Which basically means I let the computer munch it's way through a dozen or so images to blend the extreme lights and extreme darks in the space. They came out pretty well; but I'm going to see how Photomatix (another software for this type of thing) works out.

The Peanut - Urban Times

I've got to say that this one was great fun; I've always liked the wings and who doesn't love bacon? I had a superb time hanging out with the crew at the original peanut location on Main. If you haven't been there you're REALLY missing something that is unique and special in Kansas City. It's the oldest bar in Kansas City and has a ton of character and personality. Oh yeah and if you like soup forget it. Apparently they only have one soup; it's coffee flavored, only comes in a cup and tastes great with creamer...it made me giggle.

Eden Alley and You Say Tomato - Urban Times

Another wonderful shoot for Urban Times. I got to see two fantastic places in Kansas City; Eden Alley (a long standing favorite of the wife) and You Say Tomato (which is simply fabulous over at 2801 Holmes - go there - NOW).
