So the new VisitKC magazine is out for 2012. We are excited to be included representing the wonderful KC Chiefs - from our great shoot last year with Populous. Last year wasn't all I've come to expect from the Chiefs. But I'm quietly confident for this next one!

Top Secret in Florida
Sometimes we do work that we can't talk about - this is one of them. It was a lot of fun and sunny and there were palm trees.

Wired Magazine - for my Mum
A few months ago I had a fantastic opportunity to go to Mississippi and photograph a Jet Test Center for Burns and McDonnell; it was an absolutely fantastic project, with a truly unique feel to the interior. We posted it on our blog, put it into the portfolio and didn't think anything more of it. Then it wound up on notcot.org (thanks Brent Anderson) and got about a thousand hits in 24 hours, which felt nice. Then the next week Wired Magazine called wanting to feature the photo. Ironically it was the UK's edition of Wired Magazine, so I got to translate for the mother country and even chatted with the writer, not knowing I would end up being quoted in the article.
Definitely a first, and my Mum finally got to see some of my work first hand.

Jet Test Cell - Burns & McDonnell
We had a really unique photoshoot earlier this year all the way down in Mississippi - it was a bit of a surprising one. When we pulled up to the exterior of the building it was very utilitarian and stripped down, and although we knew the function we had no idea how cool the interior was going to look. Basically it's a jet test cell for the Navy. They test small jet engines that go on trainer planes. The two views we're sharing are inside the test cell and feature one of the jets they would actually test there. The photographs are a head-on and reverse angle of the cell. You can see the control room, the exhaust and the in-take to the cell. It's a pretty amazing location and thanks to Burns & McDonnell for letting us photograph something so unique - you'll see it in the new portfolio, we're really pleased with it.

GE Money Center - Burns & McDonnell
Dawn, freezing temperatures and falling snow. I don't think I've ever chipped the ice off a laptop before. This was really fun and a brand new client. We're slowly adding new life to Burns & McDonnell's catalog of old projects - a task I recommend to any client - reshoot those old projects with new eyes and new technology and you'll have some great images.
